The Yochon is a relatively newer designer crossbreed. Its parents are the Yorkshire Terrier and the Bichon Frise. These fluffy little companions are suitable for all living arrangements, including apartments and homes with children.
The Yochon is vivacious and intelligent, which will show in this breed even as puppies. They will pick up on tricks and commands quickly, showing interest in the next challenge. Crate training is recommended to keep the Yochon from developing separation anxiety, and in some cases, early obedience training is necessary. Early training and socialization will ensure a well-rounded pup.
These dogs have a high-pitched bark, making them good watchdogs. However, they should be trained not to bark excessively, especially while living in an apartment building. Despite all of their wonderful qualities, Yochons can be stubborn and curious, which can turn into destructive behavior if not curbed early on.
These naturally active pups require a moderate amount of exercise daily, including a variety of outdoor activities, interactive playtime, and time at the dog park where they can run around with other dogs. It’s also a good idea to keep mentally stimulating toys in the home to keep them from becoming bored and mischievous.
