The Puggle is an extremely popular designer crossbreed whose parents are the Puggle and the Beagle. This breed is lively and full of spunk, and they will keep their families entertained and smiling all day.
Puggles are very friendly and social dogs that will make friends with everyone, including small children, and other dogs. However, due to the Beagle parent’s natural prey instinct, Puggles may chase around the family cat and other small animals. Just like both parent breeds, Puggles are intelligent but stubborn. Training sessions should be made engaging, fun, and reward-based, otherwise they will become bored and willful.
Puggles crave constant attention, even while they’re napping. They expect their owners to continuously pet them while curled up on their lap! These dogs are suitable for all living situations and family types. However, they do tend to bark and howl often, which isn’t the best trait for apartment living. They also tend to suffer from separation anxiety, and will result in destructive behaviors if left alone. This is something that crate training and puzzle toys can correct.
This breed is energetic, and requires a fair amount of daily exercise. They enjoy brisk walks, chasing other animals, exploring their backyard, and of course, interactive playtime. It’s important to never let the Puggle of their leash as they will follow prey or a scent right into danger.
