The Malchi is a relatively new designer crossbreed whose parents are the Chihuahua and the Maltese Terrier. They are sometimes also called the Maltechi and Malachi. Their appearance will vary depending on which parent breed they take after more, and the same can be said about their personality. The Maltese Terrier is more gentle and playful while the Chihuahua is more independent and loud. While their overall temperament is described as playful yet protective, there’s a wide range of traits that may be established in each pup.
Malchis are a bit stubborn when it comes to training, so they require a firm, consistent hand. Without proper training and early socialization, Malchis will develop “little dog syndrome.” These dogs prefer to be the center of attention, and will do well as a companion to singles, seniors, and families. While they are fit for any house size, including apartments, they can get loud at times.
Malchis have an average amount of energy, only requiring a short daily walk and some playtime. They’d much prefer to curl up on your lap and snuggle. Supervision is necessary when playing with children as they can become agitated easily.
