The Giant Schnoodle is a first generation designer crossbreed whose parents are the Standard Poodle and the Giant Schnauzer. The goal of this crossbreed was to draw out the best characteristics of the two breeds to create an intelligent, loving, and low-shedding breed.
Giant Schnoodles are fun-loving and goofy dogs that are incredibly affectionate and loyal to their owners. They are best suited for active families and do well with kids. Socialization with this breed is important as they can be aloof around other dogs. Since the Giant Schnoodles comes from two highly intelligent breeds, they’re highly trainable and able to pick up on commands quickly. However, they do have a stubborn streak that requires patience and lots of verbal praise.
These giant dogs need an ample amount of exercise daily as well as mentally stimulating activities to keep them from becoming bored. Giant Schnauzers make great non-aggressive watchdogs, as they will alert you of company at the door by barking, but don’t typically bite. Like most breeds, the Giant Schnauzer suffers from separation anxiety, and will resort to destructive behavior if left alone for two long. Despite their high energy levels, these dogs love to cuddle up next to their owners.
