The Cockalier is a popular designer breed known for its pleasant personality as well as its adorable appearance. The parents of this breed are the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Cocker Spaniel, both revered for their intelligence, love, and loyalty.
The Cockalier is well suited for both singles and families with children of all ages. They can adapt to apartment life or a home with a backyard, and they’ll get along just fine with other pets. Cockaliers will be wary of strangers at first, however, they will bond with just about anybody thanks to their calm, gentle, and sociable nature.
Cockaliers are a highly trainable breed. They’re eager to learn new things and please their owners, so you’ll get their full attention during your training sessions. Depending on how much of the Cocker Spaniel’s parent traits they inherit, they may or may not be a good all-around working dog. Aside from regular training sessions, they require at least an hour of exercise daily—preferably high energy exercise.
It’s very rare that the Cockalier will act out in aggression, especially since they’re so easy to train. They do become quite dependent on their owners and do not do well when left alone for long periods of time.
